Mystic15
Hello there, i've just got a copy of what i believe is the latest version of uphuck os x. I've tried to install it on my pc but i have failed. The installation loads up, lets me select the drive for it to go onto, then select the parts to install, for this i select everything but the intel drivers as i'm on an amd chip. I then start the install and it eventually comes up with a message saying that the installation failed please try again, no reasons were provided. What i'm looking for is some advice or a guide to follow so that i can make sure that i'm doing everything right, i've looked around but i cannot find anything appropriate. The system i'm installing onto is a AMD 64XP 3500+, ASUS A7N SLI Motherboard, Nvidia 7900GT, 1.5gig RAM. I currently have two hard drives, one a 160 gb hdd and another a 80gd hdd, the first is split into two partitions, both NTFS, the first my current windows xp installation, the second a data partition, the second hard drive is currently in Mac Journaled File System from a previous attempt of Mac OS X which didn't work either, interestingly during the installation of uphuck it wouldn't let me erase this partition, i thought this wouldn't be a problem seems as it's already in the correct file system. Well theres my story, i hope theres some help you can give me, thanks for your time Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/62595-installing-onto-my-pc/ Share on other sites
BJMoose
Hi Mystic, welcome to the forum. What version of uphuck's installer did you use? The latest versions are v1.4iR3 (for Intel only) and v1.4a (for AMD only). If you intalled the former, without the Intel stuff, then you have no system files because there is no AMD files on the disk. Try downloading v1.4a or Tubgirl's installer for AMD processors. Let us know how you make out. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/62595-installing-onto-my-pc/#findComment-443245 Share on other sites

Mystic15
Right i'm going to do another install and i'll right down step by step what i shall be doing. I'm using Uphuck 10.4.9 Universal, booting it from the dvd. Well firstly the languages selection screen appears, and i choose english, it then loads for a long time. Then up pops a welcome screen, it says i'm using Mac OS X v10.4.9 Installer for PC v1.3, i click continue. Then up pops another message saying that i should select the appropriate options in regards to the Kernal, Patches and Drivers, not choices to make yet though. After i get through this message i load up the disk utility program, this displays that i have two hard disks on the first i have two partitions grayed out, one called untitled (this stores my windows xp install) and another called Media. On the Second i have a grayed out partition called MACOSX, this is the partition i wish to use, so i select this and i format the drive to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) under the same name MACOSX, and i click erase, and then wait for it to complete, I then go back to the install program, and now the partition has appeared so i select it and press continue. Now next comes the bit i'm not too sure about, it's a custom install list of components for mac os. The options are 10.4.9 Intel, 10.4.9 AMD, then some expandable options under the name Kernal, Patches, Drivers, Applications, Language Translations. Inside Kernel theres options to install Intel SSE2, Intel SSE3, -1 Intel SSE3 -2, AMD SSE2, AMD SSE3, Universal Kernal - 1, Universal Kernel - 2, Universal Kernel - 3. In this subset i just select AMD SSE3 as my processor is an AMD and it supports SSE3. Inside the Patches title, theres some programs like loginwindow, remove thermal kexts etc, i haven't selected any of them because i have no idea what they are. The next title is drivers, inside here i only install USB, Azalia Audio and Titan Nvidia Drivers, i choose these because these are the only ones which seem to apply to my hardware. The next is the applications, in here i install all of the MultiMedia and Internet programs as well as liquid cd, the others in there seem to be Core 2 Duo related so i've left them along, i install most of the rest because i can't see the programs causing any problems, finally i don't install any other languages as i'm the only user and i don't know any others, at this point i click install, and cross my fingers. The install has started and the first thing the installation does is to check the installation DVD. It passes the DVD check without any problems. It's been about 15 mins since the dvd check now and it's wrote all the files to the hard drive without flaw and has installed all the programs like itunes and gimp that i selected, which i must admit has surprised me as i never thought it would get this far, it's finishing the installation at the moment installing the drivers i selected and now it's optimizing system performance, **fingers crossed this will work**, it's just got to the end and asked me to reset, i did this and it loaded up windows xp straight away, i thought this might happen, to solve this problem i just went to the bios and change the hard drive priority and restarted the system once more, this time it came up with a darwin boot loader, i just let it run through without selecting any options, and the apple logo appeared, currently it's just sitting with the apple logo and a loading gif. I shall patiently wait. I've been waiting about 15 minutes now and still nothing unfortunatly, i think i may leave it for a while and hope that something eventually happens, but it looks like this is where it fails for me, but still i'll take the positives, it's as far as i've ever got, funnily enough it's exactly where i got to with a different version of mac i tried before. Right well it's been near an hour now and i'm official giving up and turning the computer off, it's stopped at the loading screen much to my despair. Hopefully this little write up will shed some light for those of you out there who have got this to work and can give me some help as to what may be the problem. Please do reply if you have any idea whatsoever. Thank you kindly for reading this.
