xpionage2
Hey all, I'd really appreciate if someone can just get me started on this Mac OS install! I am trying to follow this guidline: http://coolblog.profit42.com/2007/06/25/osx-10410-vista-dual-boot-intelamd/ but I'm already stumped at step 5! I believe the major problem that I'm having is creating a partition. Disk Managment doesn't allow me to "shrink" my hard drive, and acronis only creates a partition that doesn't get recognized (will not show up in Computer). I've spent HOURS trying to research this project and I'm not computer iliterate, but this seems quite challenging. When I type "diskpart," only my main hardrive shows up as disk 0, so that's what I select. Then when I type in " create partition primary id=af", I get: "There is insufficient free space to create a partition at the specified size and offset. Specify different size and offset values or don't specify either to create the maximum sized partition." I currently have 60 GB of 130 available. I've read the list of compatible hardware and Dell 6400 was listed. My goal is to have the dual boot and so far I have the following: Jas 10.4.8 with 10.4.9 update chain0 ubuntu (don't know if i need it) dell windows install cd - will this work like the original vista cd? my specs are: Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 2 GB RAM PC2-5300 Nvidia Geforce 7300 Thanks in advance! xpionage2
I just found this thread: Dell Inspiron 6400 - Mac OS 10.4.7 (JaS) Working Install Guide, Runs Natively I'll have a thorough read and see if it helps. Any further pointers will be appreciated! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60918-dell-6400-notebook-help-newbie/#findComment-432367 Share on other sites
