milton02
Hi, I would try to test osx86 8F1111, but to understand what patch to apply I used everest to determine which features my CPU have. I have an IBM thinkpad T42 2373-3UU and it has a Intel Pentium M 1,70 Dothan (2mb) CPU. Everest tells me that I only have SSE2 instructions and no NX nor PAE. I read in some forum that only Banias CPU should not have PAE, while Dothan Core should. Moreover, in some threads I think I understood that maybe PAE is present in Dothan CPU with 533 mhz FSB. So my questions are the following: 1) does my CPU actually has PAE but I need to modify some .ini or reg file to enable it under windows in such a way Everest will show it properly 2) if actually my CPU does not have that feature, can I run osx 8F1111 release? if yes, what patch I have to use? if not, what is the most release I can run well on my hardware? 3) any of you have experience installing mac os x on a Dothan T42? Thanks in advance Tony Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5935-ibm-t42-pae-osx-1043-8f1111/ Share on other sites

Technobob
If you read the first post in each it tells you that he added the 8F1111a update to the 8F1111 install patch. "I used the Maxxuss_SeedUpdate8F1111A.pkg.SSE2-1b_NoNX_CPUID to build a 1111a installer package and added it to the 10.4.3 1111 install along with the JaS 1111 patches package." milton02
ah...sorry. I read too fast!! But I do not understand what is the difference between the two patches. I thought they were the same, but I downloaded both and I figured out they have different size. Moreover, I found another JaS patch here: http://www.win2osx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=2094 that seems newer (with the last maxxuss kernel) Which one of the three I should use? Do I really install the patched dvd only through VMware???? no native install?? thanks again Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5935-ibm-t42-pae-osx-1043-8f1111/#findComment-37373 Share on other sites
Technobob
You can't install using VMware unless you have 2 hard drives in your laptop or you 2 partitions with a working copy of XP on one of them. You will also need to use chain0 file and edit your boot.ini in XP. I have never used VMware always made install DVD's and have never had a problem installing it. Your laptop is from the same family as mine 2373 model. I would use the patches from that link, mine maybe be getting out of date, time to search for the new ones.
