Steve Kummik
Not all G80..... Netkas say: I dunno, will 8600 work or not, need smbd to test it.... (from ur link ) i'm waiting for it not for other Can add you the SUBSYS of your Card into the Apple info.PLIST of the package: NVDANV50Hal.kext ?? Only if you are an expert user!!! First of all, do you a backup of NVDANV50Hal.kext, necessary in case of freeze or KP and a Single User reboot. - Copy, in your Desktop, the "info.plist" you has into "NVDANV50Hal.kext" package and open it with Property List Editor. - Add your Video Card model into the item of info.plist: Root-->IOKitPersonalities--->NVidiaRM--->IOPCIPrimaryMatch - (YOU MUST USE A SPACE AFTER THE LAST REPORT) See the separators spaces in this generic example: 0x00f010de&0xfff0ffff 0x019010de&0xfff0ffff 0x040010de&0xfff0ffff 0xYYYYYYY&0xfff0ffff and in example for a 8600M GT of Acer laptop: 0x00f010de&0xfff0ffff 0x019010de&0xfff0ffff 0x040010de&0xfff0ffff 0x1211025&0xfff0ffff - Save and reinsert the modified PLIST file into the NVDANV50Hal.kext package. - Repairs the KEXT package permissions with sudo chmod -vR 644 /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV50Hal.kext from Terminal and also with Disk Utility. - Delete Extensions.mkext into /System/Library/ directly from GUI or with a Terminal command: sudo rm -vf /System/Library/Extensions.mkext - Reboot your computer. If do not work and the computer freeze or go in KP, after the restore of NVDANV50Hal.kext you can try adding the info.plist modifications into NVDANV40Hal.kext Enjoy. Steve Kummik
You can use an utility to know the SUBSYS of your Video Card and you can try to add it into the "info.plist" file, using "Property List Editor" of Apple Developer Tool. The SUBSYS informations in the info.plist of Apple 8xxx GeForce Cards is 0x00f010de&0xfff0ffff and 0x019010de&0xfff0ffff and 0x040010de&0xfff0ffff Example for 040010de: 0400 is the 8600 model 10de is the nVidia vendor code For example, if you use an Acer laptop, with nVidia GeForce 8600M GT but having the SUBSYS 01211025 you can try to add 0x01211025&0xfff0ffff in the Apple card list, after space. ACER, in fact, use a O.E.M. SUBSYS string (1025) and not original nVidia 10DE code 0121 is the 8600M GT model of Acer Firmware 1025 is the ACER vendor code. (You can verify with Coogle into all PCI List vendor). Enjoi.
