I have a Maxtor Maxtor 6L250S0 SATA (Details here: http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...ationKey=0&v=2 I think thats it, lol) Hard Drive.

I read things posted on this forum and I made unallocated space using PartitonMagic, then using diskpart made it into the type af, which is for HFS+

I reboot my computer and load up the setup wizard, it displays no partitions at all, its just blank. Then I go to disk utility and it only has my DVD/RW there, with the mac disks in it.

Can anybody explain to my why this is happening? Is it something to do with SATA? If so, whats the workaround, because I want it Native.

Thanks in advance

I had this same problem. This is what i did, it may vary depending on your BIOS.

Press F2 to enter BIOS setup

go to drives ->SATA Operation

Change from RAID Autodetect/ AHCI to RAID Autodetect/ ATA

This may not work for you, but its worth a try?

First, you must to know if your processor at least support SSE2, if you don't know it, you can find it using this program : cpu_z_130.zip, is a little app, doesn't require installation and run under all Win32.

Well, your mb's chipset is Nvidia nForce4 Ultra and currently that SATA controler is not supported by 10.3.4. If you dont want to buy a new hd or sata->ide-converter I suggest you wait for 10.4.4. Read this: http://forum.osx86project.org/lofiversion/....php/t3851.html

Thanks for all your posts guys, much appriciated

Firstly pc_guru, Yes it supports SEE2 SEE3 PAE and everything else (not so sure about NX but that doesnt make any difference to this I don't think) so im in the clear here.

wolfinstinct, I will try this, but my BIOSis really quite rubish (Phoenix Award I think) Because I went in there before to try and find a switch for PAE, but theres not many options in my BIOS I noticed. I dont really use BIOS much...

Drmz, yeesh I hope this aint true. Doesn't support it?!? Argh man! After all that work trying to get the damn thing to actually boot! (like, 18disks I think) Is there no patch that can make it supported?....And I think I will skip buying a new hard drive, but how much does the sata >ide converter cost? And is it easy to connect?....Might void my warrenty, which wouldn't be too good.

Thanks for all your help guys

So thats about......£10 for me ;)

So whats the nForce kext files (http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=3851) they are basically a patch, im just going to add them with TransMac, see what happens.

I will have to remove the 'extensions.kext' file that I added last time, im not quite sure what that file does yet though, lol

Edit: Wait, I just read it a bit more thoroughly, no support for SATA.....damn
