I have read countless dual boot guides for Vista and OSx86 and I've got some problems. Heres my specs:

ASUS A8N5X Motherboard (nForce 4 Motherboard)

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (socket 939)

Western Digital 80GB EIDE Hdd

Sony DVD Burner

1 GB of RAM

First Attempt:

First I tried partitioning my drive using Acronis Disk Director Suite, I was successful in partiting 3 Partitions (35 gb Windows NTFS partition, 35 gb Fat32 Primary Partition, 10 gb Extended Fat32 Partition.) I popped the cd in the drive and booted up to the Disk Utility where I attempted to format the Fat32 Primary partition. It refused to Format, sometimes claiming I/O Errors and sometimes claiming that it cannot be mounted.

Second Attempt:

I used Windows Disk Manager to free up 40gb of unallocated space. I opened the run window and ran DiskPart and created a partition using Create Partition Primary id=af, the partition was created. Next i popped in the cd restarted and booted to the disk utility. The drive formatted successfully and I proceeded to click the icon to go into the install. About a minute or 2 goes by and I see a little thing that says Preparing Installation 3 minutes remaining. And then I get an error telling me installation failed, restart and try again. I tried that with 3 different OS X CDs (10.4.6, 10.4.8, and a JaS 10.4.8 disk) All three stop during install. When I check the install logs, it seems to get errors when trying to install and copy the BaseSystem files.

I have been successful in installing OS X 86 before with the same setup by just formatting the whole Western Digital drive and using it purely as an OSX86 drive. But as of yet I have not been successful in dual booting onto a partition. So if anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them.
