Before I download a DVD, which takes considerable time, I'd like to have a couple of questions answered. A couple of months ago, I tried to install OSX on my PC, to no avail. This time around, I'd like to know all the things I need to do to successfully install OSX.

One problem I remember about my first attempt was the standard set of problems, like not booting up from the CD Drive. I then went to use VMWare to try to install it, but that just failed after I went through the installation procdure. After reading a lot on the forums, I found out that I needed a "kext" patch or the like, for the Disk Manager in the OSX Installation CD. Also, I found out that SATA drives did not work, without another kext or something. Finally, I remember some complications with the NF4 Chipset motherboard I have.

Now, I'd like to know what installation version to download for my situation (SATAII drive), and I'll list my spec below:

nVidia NF4 Chipset motherboard (DFI Lanparty Ultra D NF4)

SATAII HD

AMD Opteron 170 (Dual-Core)

2 GB RAM

ATI X1900XTX

And I have an external hard drive that I believe is SATA as well. No luck finding an old IDE drive :)

What would be the best method for installing OSX? VMWare, or patched installation DVD, etc.

Thank you very much for your time, and I hope you can help me!

EDIT: Forgot to add, I remember problems with the NF4 Chipset as well. Updated specs.

EDIT 2: Tired to waiting (impatient old me), I'm going to start downloading Uphuck 10.4.9 1.3. I read that 1.4 was Intel only.

EDIT 3: Boy, am I an edit freak! I'm downloading both Uphuck, and Tubgirl 10.4.10 after reading the first page. Seems like several people with SATAII drives got it working!
