GiM
I'm having a bit of a kernel panic problem and I'm hoping someone knows whats up. I just upgraded to 10.4.10 from 10.4.8 using MacOSXUpd10.4.10Intel.mpkg. It worked great. Even gave me gigabit ethernet on my Intel8254x card. But now I'm getting intermittent kernel panics. It seems to happen any time I try to use a lot of bandwidth across a gigabit connection. Samba share access, MythTV streaming, etc. all cause it. I don't really know how to analyze a panic. I didn't find anything interesting in /var/log or /Library/Logs. I'm going to try to play around with ifconfig and see if I can get them to stop. Worst case I can downgrade my driver, but I really would like to have gigabit working. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas I would love to hear them. GiM
Well, I couldn't fix the problem. I reverted, but I'm a bit disappointed. The old driver is very slow. It seems to take a full second on each page refresh. The new one was much faster for the few minutes it would work before crashing. If anyone is interested my NIC is onboard my ASUS P5ND2-SLI It is listed as a Intel 82540EM Gigabit LAN controller. Again. If anyone has any suggestions on something else I can do I would love to hear it.
