I have a macbook core duo 2.0 early 2006 model. I bought it used from ebay. It was running tiger when i first got it. I wanted to wipe the drive and start over fresh. I put the 10.4.9 disc in which was what was given to me with the macbook. When i tried installing i got the message "this software cannot be installed on this computer". I wiped the hard drive thinking that would solve the problem and it did not. So now i have a macbook that can't install osx. I am writing this on xp which happened to install fine on the macbook. it has the latest firmware MB110061.B03.

the disc is a dvd and it says macbook mac osx install disc 1 mac os version 10.4.9 aht version 3a128 disc version 1.0 2z691-5993-a. This software is part of a hardware bundle purchase-not to be sold separately.

So i know this did come with a macbook, maybe the newest one out. i have the old macbook. it is an intel disc i believe because i am not getting a kernel panic. In the event log installation checks fail time after time. I only have the network driver installed under xp its the only one i could find on the net with my phone. I do not know any other mac users, and the apple store said i need to order one from 1800aplcare. I can't use a downloaded version because i am running xp and can't burn the .dmg file.

I think you can stick the .dmg on a seperate partition and install from that, but that would be illegal....

Anyway, my guess is that the install disc that you have ins't for your Macbook, in which case, it will not work (no way that I know of at least). I would check out ebay and pick up a used retail edition.
