Dentz
okay so here is my problem. I have both Windows XP (service pack 1) and OSX (10.4.1 - er...whatever the 1st version was, i can't remember) on my harddrive. I partitioned my hdd into 2 sections, one 30gb (OSX), and one 80gb (windows XP). I installed OSX first, and ran into no difficulties at all, it worked flawlessly (sp?), just like a real Apple computer would. Then i installed Windows XP onto my 2nd partition. As soon as that was done, windows took over and now i can't even boot my OSX. So what happens with start up now is it starts up as though there isn't even another partition, i don't even get a bootloader. I've tried doing the chain0 technique before, but it usually ends up in me loosing both installs, which i really can't afford to do again. So now my question is, how would i configure wingrub to act as a bootloader? It detects my Windows install(NTSF) and my OSX install (listed as unkown). I should also mention that my OSX install is drive C, and my windows install is drive F. I'm not too sure as to what else you may need, but that's all i can think of off of the top of my head. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5689-booting-problem-this-is-a-rare-problem/ Share on other sites
Dentz
well for some reason my bootloader (Darwin) just popped up and started working now...very strange. anyways now that problem's fixed. I have another question though, what are the advantages of upgrading to 10.4.4 from 10.4.1? Die Zappa
You cant boot in OSx since Windows has overwritten the boot sector on your harddrive. To get it working again you have to reinstall OSx, or download a boot loader, for example Acronis DiskDirector 9.x 10.x And dude, this isnt a rare problem :S Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5689-booting-problem-this-is-a-rare-problem/#findComment-35926 Share on other sites
Dentz
oh, oh well, but yeah, it's working fine now. i just popped in my installdisk and told "Statup Disk" to start with my OSX install, and now my bootloader works. I just thought i was rare, cause i couldn't find anybody who had my problem.
