zergot
I have a T60P (8743-CTO) with a 15.4 (1680x1050) display CPU : Intel® Core2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00GHz Motherboard Chipset : 955XM/945GM/PM/GMS/940GML Express Processor to DRAM Controller South Bridge : 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Controller Graphics Card : ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5250 (Device ID : 71D4, Vendor ID: 1002) I installed JaS 10.4.8 with JUST the base and JaS Intel patch I get a successful boot, and can access the GUI. Internal video works at 1024x768. I followed instructions in this thread to get a better resolution : http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=56333 which in turn points to http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=37624 Another reference thread is http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=28200 They basically talk about modifying /System/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist and hardcoding the display resolution. <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1600x1200x32</string> I tried this, and did not see any change. The next thing they talk about is modifying the /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeonX1000.kext/Contents/Info.plist to include the device ID of my card in there .. (This is to enable CI/QE support) <key>IOPCIMatch</key> <string>0x71D41002 0x71421002 0x71091002 … </string> This leads to the dreaded "Please hold down your power button to restart" I tried installing the hardware support for ATI Radeon X1x00 (?) which was part of the install DVD, but no luck there either. 1. Multiple people have reported success with atleast the resolution part. Any pointers to what i am doing wrong ? 2. Do i need to install the ICH7 patch ? will it affect the graphics at all ? zergot
OK .. an update .. After my last reinstall, I did manage to get my resolution to 1400x1050. But still, I cannot enable CI/QE support As soon as I add my device ID (0x71D41002) to the beginning of the list at the appropriate spot in /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeonX1000.kext/Contents/Info.plist, i get a crash during the boot process i did manage to boot into safe mode and revert back. zergot
I have given up on 10.4.8 for the moment .. In addition to this, i was having a lot of problems with my wireless, even after following advice from the forums. I have an Atheros a/b/g/n card, and it is also "supposed" to work with the 10.4.5 drivers. But not for me ! Maybe i will give 10.4.9 a shot ..
