DHerrington Posted July 6, 2007 Share Posted July 6, 2007 I've almost got everything insalled on my machine. I'm running uphuck's 1.3 on a dell Optiplex GX260. P4 @ 2.4 GHz 1 GB PC 3200 ATI AIW 9600 Pro (QE/CI not supported) Bus: AGP Callisto 8(that's another story in it's self) What I'm having a problem with is when I connect to the Internet, or use any Application that connects to the Internet. I get a kernel panic and have to manually shut down and restart. I've got an Intel ® Pro / 1000 MT network card that's built onboard, though it shows up as a PCI card both on OS X and Windows. I assumed that the reason why it was crashing was due to a driver problem, but I've searched a ton around here, and couldn't find anything for this particular gigabit controller. Can someone help me out here? Why is it crashing and how can I make it work? Thanks for all the advice in advance. I find that I can often visit the apple start page, google, and then when I try to load up http://insanelymac.com, it will load up until the beginning of the "add reply" and "new topic" buttons, then crash. Could it have anything to do with QE and CI not being supported? I've tried various methods of adding the vendorid and deviceid, to both the 8255x kext as well as the 8254x kext, bot no luck. So notice that if I don't go on the internet, when I start up, I will have a good DHCP IP address, but within a few mins, it'll turn into a 169.254.x.x address and will not correct its self when powercycling the modem or router. Has anyone had this problem? My device ID is 100E and vendor is 8086. ATI 9600 XT (not pro as stated above) device ID 4152 vendor ID 1002 using the installer from here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=31638 I tried both the AGP 9600 C006 and C008. When installed, it is showing AGP and the right Card information, but still no QE/CI. I checked the 9700gaplugin and it's using CallistoFB. Any ideas anyone? frizbot Posted July 11, 2007 Share Posted July 11, 2007 I had a similar problem. I didn't get a KP, but a system freeze. Not when using Adium, but with dashboard/safari/camino/etc. Perhaps some kind of DNS thing? No idea. Anyway, that was with a 1000 Pro GT and Uphuck's 1.3. Try JaS 10.4.8. It works with my 1000ProGT. Switching JaS's kexts around with Uphuck's might help, but I didn't have time.
