Ok here goes,

So i spent 25 hours downloading the bloody new uphuck 10.4.9 v1.3 install right? RIGHT!

So here i am all excited, burn it to disc, and reboot. I get on there, and do the whole disk utility format thing...

BAMMM!! error!! not good.. something about input/output error. So i am like ok, lets just wipe everything and try again..same error!

I reboot, and try to do the same thing..and...Disk can't be unmounted {censored} (for god sake!), by this time i feel really stupid that i wasted so much of my time on a new install, to find this happens. But all is NOT lost. I have another disk with 10.4.8 on it. So i insert this other disk and open the disk utility, and sure enough can do everythign without error. Erase everything then create a new partition.

So i put back in the uphuck disk, and go through, and there we go! my partiton shows up (NICE!!)

So i select all my options, which were pretty good tbh (Microsoft Office 2004, bundled with it, GENIOUS!), SSE3, a few more drivers.. etc etc

It goes through the disk check fine, no errors or anything and begins it's install! BAM another error... "an error occured, please restart your computer". By this time i am getting pretty angry, lobbing computer monitors around the room.

I thought, breathe, calm down. It might just be a bad install. So i try again...and what happens? It fried my hard drive, and now it won't work...

GENIOUS!! NICE ONE OSX-86....

I figured i would share my experiences with you lot, i dont expect any help, beacuse help would be useless without an f-in hard drive now would it.

I guess if i am to conclude this rambling, OSX is for Macs. Windoze is for PCs. Buying a new mac these days as a student never is easy, without money to do so. Meanwhile i support this OSX-86, but until they come up with a version, which works for ALL hardware, ALL software, WITHOUT as many errors as windows does on a daily basis, i will in fact stay back and watch you guys struggle.

Good day to you!

Dear Unbeatable2007:

I have been working with OSx86 for about 1 1/2 years. My first installation was OSx86 10.4.1 (Deadmoo) on Dell Inspiron 1150 Laptop. I still have this install on my laptop due to graphical limitations (unable to adjust Graphics Memory in BIOS). Since then, I've installed OSx86 10.4.6 (Myzar) on several desktops and laptops at work (Dell machines) and my Personal Desktop at home (MSI mPC 915).

I custom-built my Personal Desktop (MSI mPC 915) based on specifications from OSx86 Project's Hardware Wiki for 10.4.6. All hardware (Sound, Graphics, Networking, Wireless, USB Card Reader, etc) is working out-of-the-box without any modifications. If you want OSx86 to work properly on your machine, you should build your machine to closely match the specs of the Hardware Wiki.

I was able to add Canon MultiPass MP390, Apple's Front Row, Griffin's AirClick USB Remote and Logitech QuickCam Chat (using MacCam Drivers). The installation isn't perfect (no Cam/Sound in Cam Frog) but it works fairly well otherwise.

The fact that OSx86 runs so well on "generic" boxes is truly amazing, but this is a "hack". The "hack" meaning it works, but it shouldn't even work at all.

This is my two-cents on OSx86. What do you think?
