didibus
Hi I just bought my first mac ever, the new santa-rosa MBP. I've been trying to find a way to have it boot to my usb flash drive which has a bootable Madriva linux intall. I tried usig rEFIt, it finds my USB (which bootcamp bootloader did not) but when I try to boot it, it fails. Anyone knows how to mak it boot? P.S.: I found I could boot it using the mandriva live cd, then choosing boot from USB, but having the need for a cd removes the benefice of a usb boot. P.S.: I also heard that the MBP firmware does not support USB boot. I don't know if it's true, because at some other place, I read it could boot from USB. Can someone confirm this? dugslug
Did you ever find a solution for this? I am experiencing a similar situation with trying to recognize USB while in the pre-operating system state. I'm trying to activate BitLocker, an encryption program in Vista Ultimate which needs to get its startup key from usb before Vista loads.
