melefire
i have 1 real mac and intel hackintosh. i went on vaction for a week and came back to find that the network on both of them was completely screwed up. both are set to recive addresses from the routers dhcp server. but thay are reciving very odd addresses that do not work. both are recieving the same odd address. so i tried manually setting the address with no luck, i still get no connection. i am completely clueless as to what to do now, i have also reset my router, but nothing changes. please help i really need internet ASAP. thanks in advanced edit: the address it is assigning is 169.254.191.28 , it should be something like 192.168.1.x Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55723-strange-network-problems/ Share on other sites

januszkl
I have the same problem with my Leopard. I had wired LAN running then I connected to wireless and now I cannot get back to wired LAN. I get automatic IP address 169.x.x.x and subnet 255.255.0.0 I know my router gives IP 192.168.1.x and subnet 255.255.255.0 I know my onboard LAN card is working correctly because I can dualboot into XP and have no problem with connecting to either wired or wireless. I tried manually setting the DHCP but cannot get it to work, "Unable to establish network connection". Any suggestions? Can IP subnet be changed using shell? Thanks in advance. Kay T
Addresses like 169.*.*.* are assigned when there's no connection could be made. It's and automatic assignment. So if you se that kind of IP - look for problems between. So if you se that kind of IP - look for problems between. I figured out what IP 169.254.x.x so your description is useless. I know I cannot connect, hence the post. Look for problems between what? Like I said I can boot the same hadware to XP and it has no problem. I get the same MAC for the card (no surprise there) and I know my IP SUB GATE DNS, etc. When I boot back to Leo I get {censored} IP. I know there is no problem "between", whatever you ment by that, I know there is a problem with the Leo LAN setting.
