Two strage installation problems 8f1111

I have two machines running OSX.

 

1. ASUS P4C800E - Deluxe, INtel 875P Chipset,P4 Northwood (SSE2, PAE, NoNX), 2 GB ECC-RAM, PATA-HD for OSX,

ICH-Raid for XP, GF6800GT.

 

2. Sony Vaio VGN-A115B Notebook : Pentium M (Banias) 1,5 Ghz 1MB (SSE2, broken PAE, NoNX), Intel 855, 512 MB Ram,

ATI MobileRADEON 9200 64 MB.

 

At first the Vaio: I installed every version, for which maxxuss (thank u very much) made patches. Actually that are 10.4.1 from deadmoo

10.4.1 -->10.4.3 update, 10.4.3 8f1099 native and i`m stuck at the new 8f1111 build. Every build worked very very good. I had from

Audio in over Firewire everything running, except Core, Quartz, and Altivec which a very important to me, cause i want to work with keynote, iDVD, iMovie or much better with FinalCut and DVDStudio PRO. So i try all of these releases.

 

So the Problem is: I`ve patched the 8f1111-DVD with the SSE3 bootloader and added the precompiled SSE2&NoNX kernel from

maxxuss homepage for 8f1111. I make a normal installation, so the System is already installed. But when i try to boot, if not in verbose mode, i seeing the gray apple-screen and the hd activity sptops after a few seconds and the rotating wheel do not even come up, the system hangs. when i wait for 1 or 2 minutes the computer reboots. i tryed with -s , -x, -v platform and get the same result. In verbose mode the text rans, while loading the kexts (or something else) and when the normal higher resolution terminal should start i get a blank screen for the same while like in normal mode and the system reboots without any error message.

 

I read in other topics/forums that such problems may be caused by ati drivers, so should maybe remove the ati.kext files, but i can't, i have no windows/transmac running on this laptop, just a suse 10 which do not have a hfsplus write support precompiled. i have no gcc and nothing what is needed and no time to start playing around with a fuctioning linux distro. If this is the cause for the boot problem, does anyone has a clue how to modify the files without running osx and installing windows? Or maybe which lifecd does have hfs] writesupp?

 

 

About the P4: I have 10.4.1 running native with very good. Everything works, except RAID and QE&CI. I updated to this half

10.4.3 to speed up my performance, and it worked great. I tryied to install the 8f1099 DVD, which worked perfectly for the Vaio,

and got kernel Panics with every kernel the 1.1a patch inclueded. In vmware it freezes, i didn`t spent too much time but tried all of the kernels and -x... Now i have the 8f1111 DVD, which installed on the Vaio but didn`t boot. The Installer boots, then the blue screen comes and the language selection pops up. When i try to select a language or to move mouse or to do nothing the system freezes every time.

So i can`t start the installtion.

 

Has anyone a clue how to solve one of these Problems?

I'll make a summary of what i've written in the long post.

 

The Laptop (Pentium M) has no real problems with other versions but with 8f1111.

After installation it hangs at the gray apple boot logo with all possible boot options (-x, -s, -v..)

 

The Pentium 4 freezes when the first blue installation screen appears. Different boot options do not help.

 

If someone has a clue where to begin it would be very helpfull.

I have the same problem like you have with the Sony Vaio on my laptop with same chipset

Hey gementricxs117,

 

i've solved my problem with the vaio by using the newest prepatched mach_kernel.sse2 from ********* After i put this kernel, with Ubuntu Live-CD 5.10 which has hfs+ write support, in my root-dir it booted fine. Don't forget to boot this new kernel at bootprompt.

 

After that i patched this installation with the 8f1111a patch-pkg it it still working. I would try a new bootable (with JaS-ppf) 8f1111a dvd or do the same like me with a newer patched kernel. The system is fast (imressive in rosetta), but i have to report some lockups when idle or at full load, not while surfing and so on.
