ZFS writeable on Leopard

Hello, I know anybody has got his copy of Leopard, but I was searching over the internet looking for info about ZFS implementation.

I've found two interesting things:

This is the first one. As you can read, it seems that actually Leopard provides a ZFS.kext read-only capable, but that in the future you'll maybe get a read-write version from Apple's developer site.

But the second link is far more interesting:

Well, it seems that actually you CAN make Leopard able to read-write ZFS partitions and pools! There's a little difference between Leopard and Solaris, but as you can see that developer has found out a workaround to get Leopard able to write ZFS pools, even from the Finder.

Well, he says that you need to mount manually the kext, but I think that it could be done automatically with some modifies in the rc script and a refresh of Extensions.kextcache and Extensions.mkext.

 

Do you think what he said is actually true? If it is, it could be huge.

It looks like possible only via console... anyway I really don't think it's a good move to set it as read-only. If nobody can write... which one could read?

Yeah, it appears to be nonsense. Anyway, if this trick work, it's gonna be possible read and write ZFS volumes even from the Finder. Sadly I'm not a "super-fantastic-premium-Apple Developer Connection" developer, so I need to wait before test anything.
