certuna
After the endless struggle trying to get OSX86 to work properly on my 'main' computer (Asus A8N-VM CSM + Athlon 64) I've decided to build my own FrankenMac on-the-cheap using various bits and pieces I have lying around plus some new parts. Already have: - case + PSU - 250 GB Hitachi Deathstar 7K250 (IDE) - NEC ND-4550A DVD-R/RW - keyboard, mouse, screen To buy: - Asrock 775i945GZ (GMA950, max 800/533 MHz FSB), approx €50 - Intel Core 2 Duo E2140 (1.6 GHz, 800 MHz FSB) + fan, approx €75 - Kingston ValueRam 2x512 MB (PC4300, 533 MHz), approx €35 Will this work out-of-the-box using uphuck 1.3? If I read the HCL correctly, it should... Performancewise, I expect it to be about as fast overall as the current baseline Mac Mini (a bit slower on the cpu side, bit faster due to more mem & faster HD), is that realistic? Doug the Impaler
looks quite realistic to me. I've had better success with an Intel setup than an AMD one.
