CaptainNemo
Hello, I've just installed JaS 10.4.8 on my ThinkPad A31 which runs a ATI Radeon mobility 7500. The installation works fine until the reboot. I can see the Apple on grey and the rotating sign. Suddenly it stops rotating and the screen blanks. I tried to attach an external TFT, but - nothing there. What makes me wonder, too is the fact, that I'm unable to select any kind of mode like "verbose". When the notebook cames up after the BIOS prompt I just find a "Starting Darwin" on the screen. Someone has an idea? Hopefully! Nemo Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/53457-thinkpad-a31-jas-1048-blank-screen/ Share on other sites
csmig
Sorry, I have no answer for us, but I get this exact behavior on a Thinkpad T30 as well. tabilozzo
Same hardware working here. I just made it resetting the bios to the default settings and then performing a default JAS 10.4.8 (including printer deivers and language files) + intel patch and "support for other hardware" installation. I'm still checking if everything is working (video its a little bit slow, not ethernet yet). For now audio ok, usb ok. CaptainNemo
Some months later I tried it again, today with success. Install JaS 10.4.8: - Enter BIOS (F1) and load Setup Defaults (F9) - Save & Exit (F10) - Insert JaS 10.4.8 (SSE2!!) and press F12 while booting - Select CD-ROM - Press any key to start setup - watch a lot informations - Select your language - Enter the Harddisc-Utility and create a Mac-Partition - Leave the Harddisc-Utility - Press "Next" - Choose your HDD - DE-Select: -> Printer Driver -> Additional Fonts -> Language Packages -> X11 - SELECT: -> JaS Intel 10.4.8 ATA kexts included ---> "Support for the most common hardware" ------> 10.4.8 Azalia.Support ------> Sigmatel9220Audio.Support ------> 10.4.4.Loginwindows.Intel.Only ------> 10.4.8.x600.Mobility.Support (!) ------> Laptop.PowerManagement.Bundle Thats's it! - Download the graphic driver from http://rapidshare.com/files/11074404/ATI_7500_Pack.dmg.html on another Mac or PC , put it on an USB stick and install the DMG. Reboot the ThinkPad. DON'T INSTALL UPDATES FOR INTEL SSE3! THIS WILL KILL YOUR OS X! Sound works with Azalia OR Sigmatel - I don't know, but it works - I will try to install the network card and if this works, I will post the installation steps here! > Ok - here's the promised update. Download "Koolkal 10.4.10 Intel Only SSE3" and install all stuff from the Patches -> Netzwork drivers and reboot. DON'T INSTALL ANY KERNEL OR THE 10.4.10 UPDATE! THIS WILL KILL YOU OS X! After a reboot, your ThinkPad A31 will work fine with all hardware (exkl. WLAN, which I don't have built in here - so I couldn't test). PS. What disapoints me is the slow graphic card The 16MB Radeon7500M works nice in the panels native resolution of 1400x1050, but it's damn slow - not what I hoped for - no chance to use it as presentation notebook :/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/53457-thinkpad-a31-jas-1048-blank-screen/#findComment-455729 Share on other sites
