osxx86nl
Hi there, first of all; sorry for my englisch (i'm just a dutch farmer ) i've got a Acer WLMI 1522 with SSE2 support. Osx 10.4.1 works great with normal use (office for mac, safari, iworks) but i cant run logic express. Installing wasn't a problem but when i try to start it it keeps crashing. my question: if i would buy an intel p4 with sse3 support then i could run the program? i don't know a thing about rosetta, i've been googling for a few days now for info about it but it doesn't make any sense te me... (do i need to install a program or is rosetta always in the instalation or something like that?) Thanks!!!! macgirl
I'll wait until Logic Express is available as Intel/X86 Binary. Rosetta runs automatically every time a PPC Binary is open, but it is an emulation, so expect slower speed than a native version, and maybe some crashes. But now it won't run at all, would it start (maybe slow and have some crashes) on a pc with sse3 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5209-need-some-information/#findComment-33101 Share on other sites
macgirl
From the Apple Site it says: "Macintosh computer with a PowerPC G4 or faster". Rosetta does not emulate G4 Altivec instructtions right now, there is a rumor of Rosetta with Altivec, but is just that, a rumor, so apps that need G4 does not run well with Rosetta. As Logic Express is an Apple Application expect an Intel Binary in the future.
