minipulator
Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone has had luck getting fink to run under osx x86? I have installed OSX using the linux dd command to write the image to a hard drive. I have used all the patches allowing the OS to run under SSE2 as opposed to SSE3. Everything seems to work fine, including Rosetta. I've been having great fun with it, but as a native debian user, I thought i would try and install fink to get some of the tools I am accustomed to. The problem I'm running into is that dpkg doesn't work properly. Apt-get and apt-cache both execute fine. It will download the .deb package and store it on the harddrive, but everytime I use apt-get to actually install a package, it tells me that dpkg has given an Illegal Instruction. And, indeed, when I try to install the package 'manually' by using dpkg -i it does give an illegal instruction. Is this because Rosetta does not work via command line? The same thing happens when I try to use FinkCommander (since FinkCommander just sends the necessary commands to apt-get and therefore dpkg). Can anyone help, or at least shed some light on what the issue might be? Thanks in advance -Minipulator Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/515-fink-under-sse2/ Share on other sites
