demonio
Please, need help: After trying to find out how to boot my newly brewed osx86, followed by tuning it to fit my hardware, there comes this annoying problem with booting the system without the installation DVD. What I really do not need is a dual boot system, as I finally found OS X to fully fit my needs. And that come after years of Linux and Windows testing. The other problem consist in activating the Extended Desktop on my other LCD monitor with ATI X1300 Pro, but I left it for some other time. I tried to hold down several keys (C, option, shift, etc.) to enter some boot up option menus, without result. Startup Disk utility sees only the "Network drive" which i dont have. The same thing with starting the live system from DVD. Repairing the Mac OS X partition results in "No repair needed". I have only one Seagate 120 GB disk, with three HSF+ journaled partitions, on Intel D975XBX with SSE3, 10.4.8 JaS OSX86. If somebody fixed this boot problem, I would appreciate some tip. Thank You for reading my post. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/48428-question-how-to-boot-without-a-install-dvd/ Share on other sites
Slinger2g
For starter's, is your HDD SATA or IDE? Also, You need to set the partition on your drive as *active*. demonio
First, thank You for replying. My HD is an SATA. About activating a partition - I dont know, maybe fdisk? You mean from console? GParted boot CD shows that the Mac OS X is marked as "boot". I cant say if it is active. THX. aliab
Sometimes some strange bios parameters could help, i remember this prob occurs for me and resolved it with USB legacy enabled and AHCI together (but with a different mobo).. demonio
Or maybe I have to update my ISO with "JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSe2.SSe3.v1p" patch? (650 MB) and after that i have to put "Defiant.diskutil.7.ppf". Somewhere stays that there is a Diskutil installation bug on 10.4.8 sse2 sse3, which makes something wrong with partitioning. Am I actually trying to start from HD, and there is a bug present in this release?! Probably. *I´m still standing on the bridge* Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/48428-question-how-to-boot-without-a-install-dvd/#findComment-360405 Share on other sites
Oracle67
Go get: Mac Os X [Jas AMD-Intel SSE1-SSE2 with PPF1 & PPF2].iso Use: IDE HardDrive master, DVDDrive slave. Disable SMART from Bios. Do that and install. Good luck.
