OK firstly id like to thank many peps on this forum for inadvertingly helping me out. Iv finally got an install of mac osx 10.4.6 up and running, its taken a good day to do - but its up at last.

Id thought id make this guide of all the probs i experienced and how i got round them:

First up my sys specs:

core duo e4300 @ 2.79ghz

nvidia 8800gts OC

2gb corsiar C3 ram (2x 1gb)

gigabyte ds3 mobo

xfi soundcard

1 terabyte drive (2 x 500gb seagate drives - sata)

(NEW JUST FOR MAC OSX) 1 80gb seagate drive

1 samsung IDE dvdrw-drive

PROBLEM 1= crossed out circle during installation boot (cant go any further)

SOLUTION: needed a usb drive to get around this. instead of buying one i found an old external drive caddy lieing around that could accept hdd or dvd drives so i used that.

PROBLEM 2= no available partitions/hdd available to install mac osx to.

SOLUTION: basically after hours and hours of thinking and tinkering. iv come to the following conclusions:

1- the drive you want to install to has to be on the first bus on the mobo and as a MASTER anything else and it wont get detected (i simply swapped hdds)

2- try and create a partition in fat32 format before doing the install.

basically with this one the installation wasnt accepting my terabyte drive so i went out and got a cheap 80gb one (£35) , i removed my other drives and just stuck the new one in and made sure it was MASTER and on the first bus, i then went into the installation and it was found. i created 2 partitions one JMACOS type and the other as free space. (30ish GBs each partition)

PROBLEM 3= after installing it asks to restart but hangs.

SOLUTION: restart manually!!! simple as.

PROBLEM 4= after restart get a B0 error.

SOLUTION: need to set your partition as active! i did this by putting in the installation disk and going into terminal and doing the following:

diskutil list

fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0

p

f 1

write

y

exit

and then restarted and volia! mac osx all good (well apart from wireless / sound etc but il figure that out later!)

as for the other disks with windows on? well i havent tried it but id imagaine i could simply use my mobos disk boot function to select which HDD to boot from.

Hope this helps some people! If you need any advice give us a shout and il see if i can help!

:)

I have a 8800 GTS 640MB in my Hackintosh too, no QE/CI/OpenGL either and resolution set to 1024x768. I'd love to get a driver for this card too. Does anyone have a solution for this?

And are you able to restart your Mac OSX? My Mac always hangs when I do restart, but shutdown always works right.
