Thank you! For Board, I recomend Asus P5LD2-VM DH ( gma 950, sata 2, AHCI, sound works fine ) For CPU, try to buy to avoid celeron and buy a cpu with sse3 and VT if possible for HD, buy a Sata II, avoid IDE For your own reference, I´m using 2 P5LD2-VM DH one with a P4 3.4 with VT (the best for parallels) and on the other a core 2 duo 6300 also with VT 3 GB ram DDR2 on both and only sata HDD´s with bios setup for AHCI Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47667-building-custom-please-help/#findComment-341415 Share on other sites

I have changed a few things around. MOBO: Asus P5LD2-VM LGA-775 MicroATX Intel 945 Intel ICH7 = $64.99 OPENBOX CPU: Intel P4 640 Prescott 3.2GHz LGA-775 HT,MMX,SSE,SSE2,SSE3 = $73.00 HD: WD Caviar SE WD1600JB 160GB 7200RPM IDE Ultra ATA100 = $54.99 RAM: Wintec Ampo 3AMD2067-1G2-R 1GB DDR2-667 = $54.99 CASE: Foxconn TLM436-CN300C-01 MicroATX Mini = $33.99 POWER: Logisys PS350MA 350Watt MicroATX = $19.99 Is there anything else I need? Such as cables, fans etc? The reason I am buying an IDE HD is because I hear that SATA's are very hard to get working with OSx86. Thank You, please respond. Taruga
Change board to P5LD2-VM DH (look for board revision 2.0, supports core 2 duo). P5LD2-VM DH supports AHCI which is closer to a real mac than P5LD2-VM and will give you less trouble than using IDE believe me. You will loose a lot of performance and compability if you go to an IDE HDD with this mobo. Change HDD to SATA instead of IDE, you won´t regret it. If you buy IDE... YOU WILL !!! The cpu you want works fine but has no VT, if you wish to run windows in parallels you will loose a lot of performance. You can compare the cpu you have choosen with one with VT (the same speed 3.2Ghz) here: http://compare.intel.com/pcc/showchart.asp...p;culture=en-US I hope I´ve helped you deciding.... p.s. - One thing that will not work out of the box is sound, but I´m the author of AppleHDA patcher, a patcher that will enable mic, line in, headphones, speaker, lineout, spdif at this mobo. So, no worry about that as you can check it here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=32859 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47667-building-custom-please-help/#findComment-341799 Share on other sites
