Cole G.
The install I am using is 10.4.8 JAS SSE2, 3 PPF1,PPF2 My System Specs are: -ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless Edition Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard -Athlon X2 4200 AM2 Not overclocked -8800 GTX -regular Western Digital IDE HD -OCZ Platinum 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel And my issue is: When I try to boot up for the first time after the install I leave the CD in and it brings me to a grey screen with a power button in the middle and tells me to restart I'm assuming is because of kernel panic because that is what the errors behind it say. Then when I try to boot up without the CD it just tells me this: "DISK BOOT FAILURE PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND HIT ENTER" so I do and then it brings me straight back to that kernel panic screen that tells me to restart. Help would be greatly appreciated! Oh and also when I installed I installed the Intel and AMD hacks I dont know if that may have something to do with it but just throwing that info out there. Thanks! ~Cole~ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47287-grey-screen-saying-restart-kernel-panic/ Share on other sites

SA22C
I'm not sure if this is related, but there's no way that you'll get that 8800 GTX working in OS X. There are no drivers for it, at all, and the bootloader has a fit trying to figure out how much RAM it has. When the computer boots up, hit F8 to get to the bootloader screen and try using the -v switch. That should give you a 'verbose' boot and tell you which part of the boot is causing the kernel panic. My money's on the graphics card. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47287-grey-screen-saying-restart-kernel-panic/#findComment-339141 Share on other sites
Cole G.
well now there isn't a kernel Panic it just brings up the grey screen and then loads for a bit then brings up the restart thing with the power button background Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47287-grey-screen-saying-restart-kernel-panic/#findComment-339342 Share on other sites

SA22C
Probably, but that video card just isn't supported, so I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't causing all sorts of problems.
