Scorpio123
Hi there, I was successfully running a MAC OS X JaS 10.4.8 SSE2 Intel with the old 8.4.1 kernel. Then i obtained the new 10.4.8 JaS 8.8.1 SSE 2 Intel with the 2 ppf patches applied. It installed fine, but unfortunately on the first boot, it kept giving me an HFS+ Partition error. I kept re-installing but the problem persisted. The problem is, when i tried re-installing the old, successful 8.4.1 kernel version, it still gave me the HFS partition error! The weird thing is, if i left the install DVD in there and didn't hit enter to install OS X, it would boot the OS without a problem.. its just that it'll give me the error if i boot without the install disc inserted... I know i've installed it the same way that i've had success with before..... Any help is appreciated! I have an HP dv1000 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47005-strange-boot-problem/ Share on other sites
pandnaka
I have almost the same problem like you, but just that on my spare drive that I made, The original OSX drive boot ok from the drive it self!, but the spare drive only boot if the OSX DVD install in my DVD drive and just like you did, after that 8 second timer gone it would boot to my spare drive. Did you partition your drive in the Disk Utility when you Install your OS, don't just erase your drive, make sure you make apartion, that how I install OSX on mine!!! Good luck!!! Scorpio123
Hey man, thanks for the reply.. Yeah, i did partition man My first partition "Untitled" contains Windows XP and then i erased the second partition that i had created in Windows using MAC OS X (Journaled) I did everything the same way as i had done before, but now even the old kernel won't install without the error Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47005-strange-boot-problem/#findComment-336927 Share on other sites
