hendricks85
So I'm trying to do a sort of quad boot, where 3 of the OS's are on two of my SATA hard drives RAID0'd together. I have an IDE hard drive that is blank that I'd like to put os x on, especially since it seems everyone has problems with SATA, not to mention a RAID. I've tried having the IDE hard drive completely blank and with a FAT32 partition, but no luck. The disk utility doesn't recognize any of my hard drives, including my 2nd IDE media hard drive (yes 4 hd's total). Any help please? I'm trying to install the JAS 10.4.8 version. Here are my specs: Pentium D 930 ASUS P5LD2 (North bridge: Intel 945P, South bridge: Intel ICH7R) NVidia GeForce 8800 GT 2 x Patriot 2 GB SDRAM DDR2 667 2 x Western Digital 250 GB SATA 1 x Western Digital 250 GB IDE 1 x Maxtor 200 GB IDE -Hendricks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46582-install-cant-see-any-of-my-hard-drives/ Share on other sites
hendricks85
Anyone? No thoughts at all? Do i need to get a patch for my motherboard? I've seen something about the IHC7R or 8R, but I thought that was only if you were trying to get it to see your SATA drives, which I dont really care about. All I need is for it to see one of my IDE hard drives so I can install on it. Please help!!!! Robbeke
You need to disable any raid functions in BIOS and put your controllers in AHCI mode. In my mobo he sees IDE drives as S-ATA drives so this might be the issue. Then try again. On my mainboard OS X does not see any disks connected to a S-ATA port configured for RAID. hendricks85
Well if i disable my raid, wouldn't that mess up all my data on them? Robbeke
As long as no software modifies the raid disks nothing will go wrong... If you want to be sure just unplug the cables while testing with OS X. hendricks85
Robbeke, thanks for the help, but it still is not working. It doesn't recognize any of the drives in the system configuration tool. I disconnected my sata drives, and set the controller to AHCI, but no luck. hendricks85
I dont know if this helps at all, but I found this for the HCL for my mobo: Board: P5LD2 Chipset: Intel 945P / ICH7R NOTES: Work: HD Audio (Realtek 882) only 2 channels working with some modifications (ALC882). Network works with IONetworkFamily.kext from 10.4.4. Doesn't work: ALC882 line in, SATA Ports in RAID or AHCI mode, ITE8211 ATA Ports Fully working without patching: JaS 10.4.8 SSE3 original seed (running on 200Mhz FSB) (10.4.7 + upgrade) as well as 10.4.8 SSE3 original seed reinstall, all with kernel semthex 8.8.1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46582-install-cant-see-any-of-my-hard-drives/#findComment-334017 Share on other sites
hendricks85
Any more suggestions? It still does not work. If i leave my sata drives plugged in and change my settings to ahci, I can see the sata drives, but not my IDE drives.
