TheQuantumByte
Hi guys, I've just ran into a horrible problem. I just installed 4 updates from software update: Java Environment 5 iPhoto 6.0.6 Security Update 2006-002 Airport Extreme Update After rebooting, the Apple splash screen showed for a little while, and then the dreaded kernel panic screen showed - the dark gray screen with "you need to hold down the off button to shut your computer down" in four languages. I am aware that OS X updates cannot be installed via software update, but I thought everything else should have been fine. I *was* running 10.4.8 with an 8.4.1 Darwin kernel. I have a SSE3 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo processor. Thanks for any help, Isaac. FreeOSX
From what I read in the past, the "Security Update 2006-002" kills your OSX on an AMD system. I am personally avoiding the Airport Extreme Update(useless anyway), and Security Update 2006-002. InsanelyOne
I seem to be suffering random Kernel Panics as well. Not sure if it's related to the latest security update. Any insight into how one can diagnose Kernel Panics?
