Every time I try to boot from cd to a JaS Mac OSX 10.4.7 or 10.4.8 disk, I get this message: System config file '/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found. It goes right from BIOS to this message. If I push F8 after that message comes up, it only shows the option of picking Ethernet PXE Client. Upon selecting that, it returns to the same message.

The laptop I want to install it on is a Toshiba Satellite M45-S355.

It has SSE2.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help.

It is one of the most common problems for a long time. Still no solution to this problem. But i can guess you have a 965 chipset motherboard and it has a Jmicron controller on it that controls teh ide interface on this motherboards and it refuses to read the data on the hfs partition on the install dvd (which has the boot volume) So it looks for the com.apple.Boot.plist file on that volume. The only solution to this problem seems like you should have a external usb dvd drive to boot install dvd.

yup. 965 chipset..but its funny how it worked once..using a usb hd, and IDE dvd drive. I cant get it to load again! I'm past this error. Make sure IDE HD is master, and dvd drive is slave. Or HD IS USB. Now I get a USBUCHI error. Any advice? haha
