alephbot
Hello there, I am attempting to get OSX running on a system I have recently put together (I will list the contents below) - and I have two version of .iso files which are: 1: JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.iso and 2: macosx_10.4.3_8f111_for_dtk_userdvd.iso Neither one of these gets me to any kind of install screen - keep in mind this is a completely OS free, brand new system. Basically, I have searched high and low, and I can't figure out how exactly I'm supposed to make these downloaded .iso files boot into the OSX install - is there some method of burning them that I don't understand (I am burning them on a mac, BTW - I am a relative Windows newbie). I really feel that I am missing a step, although many guides say you can boot right from the disk, so I really need some guidance. Here is the system: Asus barebones P1-P945G (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16856110070) Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 1.8ghz 1gig memory 160 gig HD Please please please help! Thank you. If you cant get it going, the text will stop with an error, write it down and we will try to help Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43868-seriously-in-need-of-installation-help-please/#findComment-313833 Share on other sites
alephbot
Right now if I try to boot from the 10.4.8 or 10.4.3 disk I get this message: Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key_ I know this is a standard PC message - right? What am I doing wrong? Also, is there some method to burning a CD .iso that I need to know (ie: software, settings). I'm using a mac for all of this, using Toast to burn the CD. I'm currently downloading a supposedly new, pre-patched 10.4.8 which is called: JaS.Mac.OS.X.10.4. 8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.S SE3.PPF.1.Defiant. diskutil.biker880. ich7-R.patch.Integrated I assume this has all ready had a number of patched applied to it (a process which I still don't understand) - so this should be able to boot from my DVD drive, correct? Thanks in advance for any help! alephbot
I'm a total idiot. Had to burn the ISO properly! It's working. Greatest day of my life. Sorry for any time wasting!
