aldrlandon93
Hi, so here is my problem. I currently have nforce 4 sata on my desktop, so I can't use it to install osx86 to the external. So first I formatted the 80GB External 2.5" USB 2.0 IDE hard drive with Fat32 and made it primary. Then, I hooked it up to my core duo notebook, formatted it Mac OS Extended (Journaled), and installed JaS 10.4.8 with Semthex's kernel onto it with the amd patches for my desktop. Next, I plug the drive into my desktop, set it to boot from it in the bios, and it just won't boot. It skips it and goes straight for windows. When I look at it in windows (through my computer->Manage) it says that it is all unallocated space. I have just bought the drive today, and I can write files to it fine when its formated NTFS, so what do you think my problem is that is keeping me from booting from it? The first time I got it to boot, but it hanged at "HFS: Created HFBT on Mac OSX", Mac OSX is the drive name. Any help would be greatly appreciated PS: The hard drive manufacturer is SimpleTech and the model is SP-U25/80 Edited February 24, 2007 by aldrlandon93 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43395-jas-1048-install-to-external-hd/ Share on other sites

aldrlandon93
I'm planning on installing that kext once I get it booted on the external. Then I plan to clone it to my sata drive, but my problem is that the data is getting corrupted it seems when it is being installed on the external. I found a guide that says to make a vmware install to an .img file, then put it on the drive, so I'm trying that now.
