I can get to the darwin OS selector screen and after selecting Mac OS X I can get to the part where you can type stuff like -v. No matter what i do from here on out, whether i boot normally, boot using -v, or let time run out, all this text starts to scroll super fast and then the computer reboots.

Anyone know what the problem is?

3.00 GHz Pentium 4

Geforce 7600

150 GB HDD

1 gb Ram

trying to install 10.4.6

If it helps, i might have checked the install patches option under customize when installing? Is that for AMD users only?

Ok...

try booting with the DVD in. See what happens, probably the same thing.

When you said you installed the patches in customizing the installation... which patches did you install?

BIOS-Update ftp://ftp.shuttle.com/BIOS/fb81/fb81s02l.bin

ACPI, S3 enabled?

SSE2 ,applied Intel-patch only

packages select accordingly to your hardware only

your manual, if missing, look for specs

I have identical probllem .. but: I think your restart is random ! Just try rebooting unless you have installator.

I wrote on forum, hm, 4 posts and anyone couldn't fix this problem ! Anyone. I thought that is the problem with 10.4.8 kernel... but there's 10.4.6 ( probably 10.4.4 kernel )

I have OSX 10.4.8 fully working ( at least system starting - sometimes reboots 4-5 times, sometimes works at first time ) ( the same issue with install DVD )

My specs:

A64 3500+ venice core with SSE3

1 GB RAM

GF 7300 GT 256MB PCI-E

chipset: VIA K8T890

Its not a guarantee by any means, but usually your best compatibility comes with the Beta9 kernel. I would suggest getting the latest JaS release (the one with the_defiant patch and bikerdude) and try installing that. Its just good policy to keep yourself updated, if need be you can usually use old kexts on the new kernel.

So... no longer having any possible solutions to suggest for you with your current setup, I would say try that.
