aceshigh
hey everyone, ive kinda been following along posts and insight from all the users here for the past few months, a few weeks ago i decided to install OSX on my AMD64 3700 (san diego). It was amazing installed with no hickups. with 2 gigs of ocz cas 2 ram man OSX was loading to desktop in about 4 seconds. Specs: abit an8-sli board nf4 chipset nvidia 6800 xt 256meg mem 2 gigs ddr mem seagate 200gig ata100 on board Lan on board firewire on board usb on board sound memorex dvdram everything worked fine with no modification except the firewire. it would give me a "invalid firewire GUID ffffffffffffffffff. but everything else worked great, I installed a few softwares (office mac) everything was great. Then last night, getting kinda frustrated, because I couldnt change the resolution to anything other then 1024x768. I installed the Natit installer. It finished and said restart. I restarted it and now it doesnt get past this screen. I have no idea what it means, or how the hell to go about reversing it. I have made a lot of customizations and have a crapload of word files, bookmarks and the such that i wouldn't really want to lost by reinstalling. ive included a screen shot with just letting it boot normally, and a screen shot when i do -x. it gets to "login window application started" and hangs. thx in advance. aces Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43311-regarding-natit-and-now-no-boot/ Share on other sites
thestevo
Good news is that you should be able to delete Natit and go about life again. You'll have to put in the DVD, boot into single user mode, mount the hard drive, delete Natit. I believe that should get you booting again. I'm not sure whether you have to repair permissions in that situation, maybe. Beyond that... I would first make sure that you have updated your kernel to the newest version. Prasys' script is probably the easiest for that, there is a link to that in my signature. Then try Natit again. If that doesn't work then try other versions of Natit. I think there are three main versions that could help your situation. Best place to find links to all of them is in Rammjet's compilation of links. zackint0sh
i had a similar issue w/ natit_dual 0.02, i was able to resolve by using relevant kexts and frameworks from 10.4.8 combo updater. basically did what walterav described at http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...c=34244&hl= Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43311-regarding-natit-and-now-no-boot/#findComment-309961 Share on other sites

thestevo
First you're going to boot into single user mode. I'm not at my mac right now, so this is from memory and is susceptible to being wrong. I believe you're going to hit F8 at boot and the boot with the -s flag. This will bring you to the equivalent of Windows command line. Then your going to use rm -rf natit.kext You don't have to modify the kext, other people have already done that. You will just have to try different ones, trial and error. Unfortunately that might involved having to manual delete Natit a couple times. The best Windows analogy I can make to a kext would be this: A kext is like a ZIP of driver files. It may contain one, it may contain a lot. 8.8.1 is rather like a 'class' of kernel. You need to check which version you have. (e.g. Beta8 or Beta9) zackint0sh's suggestion could be a very real consideration. However, for your current experience, that might require a very careful read. thestevo
Prolly some problem with the system recognizing your firewire card. Doubt it has anything to do with your problem.
