Hello people,

This is my first post here, so please be gentle.

I am a complete noob on OSX and Apple.

I have been using Windows and Linux for quite a while now but decided to try the OSx86 installation.

I got 10.4.8 installed on a triple boot machine (Windows XP SP2 and Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft).

The installation was a bit strange at first but after reading quite some posts here on the forum I managed to partition my drive, fix a triple boot bootmanager and got rid off some kernel panic as well.

This is what I get:

After installation (customized), the system reboots and just 'hangs' and a certain point.

I have tried the verbose mode (-v) but that doesn't seem to help.

It still hangs.

I tried installing it on another machine in a vmware session and the problems seem almost identical.

The triple boot machine boots. I get the white screen with the apple and a rotating 'sun'... all of a sudden the screen goes black and machine stops responding.

The vmware session boots. I get the white screen with the apple and a rotating 'sun'... all of a sudden the screen freezes and the session stops responding.

In verbose mode I see a lot of stuff being loaded. I see the change of resolution and a bit after that.... bang no-go.

Hardware that I use:

1. Triple boot machine:

HP NX7000 laptop

Centrino 1.4GHz

512MB

Ati mobility radeon 9200

No pcmcia cards inserted

2. vmware session

HP DC 7100 CMT

P4 3.0GHz HT

1024MB DDR400

GeForce 6600GT

VMware workstation 5.5.1 build 19175

I am at the edge of desperation and giving up :S

Could someone please help?

TIA!

OK I found some other topics with the same problems...

Followed them and solved this issue (at least for the VMware session. Now booting laptop to try).
