mrsleepy
Hi there, Sorry if im not allowed to post this here...just wondering if anyone can help me get this card working please? System Profiler identifies it as: Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x89) Wireless Card Locale: USA Wireless Card Firmware Version: 4.80.76.1 Current Wireless Network: wireless network not available I have managed to get it detected as Airport - but no matter what I try I cant connect to any access point The card was one I got off ebay and it was said to be Broadcom 4311 so it is supposed to be supported. Any ideas please??? Cheers!! PS. I am in the UK not usa - I have tried a few different channels on the access point and also with/without wep.. mrsleepy
Update: Booted into ubunto and this is the lspci output... 05:00.0 "Network controller" "Broadcom Corporation" "BCM4310 UART" -r01 "Apple C omputer Inc." "Unknown device 0089" Seems this is a BCM 4310 and NOT 4311 as I was told when I bought this. Anyone help please? Update 2: The wireless light on my laptop does not come on either - does this mean the card is physically turned off? That may explain why I cant connect to anything?? mrsleepy
Ooo now that looks interesting. So once I do this, because the radio is on it will work? I did a fresh install of Jas 10.4.8 actually and this time it picked up my wireless out of the box - kind of. It detected an Airport - but it was switched off. So I installed the update I got (to get broadcom wifi working) and it changed the wifi card locale to Inetrnational and allowed me to switch on. BUT - as soon as I try and join a network now it gives me the old "please switch off the machine" message. Any ideas??!
