Im not entirely sure how or why this has happened.

When i try to run any pkg or pkmg files - the beginning screen welcoming you to the installation comes up - (not for all the installations i try) and you follow through until the agreement for the software licence. You click agree and the installation window terminates - the installer then dies.

Other than that the installer opens for milliseconds and crashes - as if you had just clicked the agreement button.

I am running os X 10.4.8 on an AMD 64 bit 2800 with sse2 support - completely unsure on the kernal im running and the updates i need if i need them.

Please give me a bit of a hand working this one out as im completely unsure!

Thanks

Andy

There are some topics about this. I also got this problem but after newest kernel atleast everything works. In terminal please write uname -a working kernel message shows this "Darwin nexus 8.8.1 Darwin Kernel Version 8.8.1: Sat Dec 9 22:18:27 AZOT 2006; semthex:/nebukadnezar/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 i386 i386". If you get this message I cant help.. If not please update. :)

Darwin andy-armstrongs-computer.local 8.4.1 Darwin Kernel Version 8.4.1: Tue Jan 3 18:23:53 PST 2006; root:xnu-792.7.90.obj~1/RELEASE_I386 i386 i386

this is what i have, so i have kernal version 8.4.1 this is good news i reckon.

But i dont understand the upgrade process - im on an amd 64 bit sse2 only cpu - and unsure which update to apply.

Please advise.

Andy

I did search the forums - but i still cannot find any threads or posts explaining the exact file i need!

Can you be specific for me, and perhaps tell me where to look or post a link as im completely lost in this forum at times!

Ur my only hope, thanks very much- Andy

Join #kernel @ irc.macspeak.net

Write !getkernel

And then you get 2 download links. Just select sse2. Thats simple.

ok - so i applied some other kernal upgrade - which used a script to update - now when booting into mac osx, it loads for ages then u get the 0 sign with a line through it.

Dam!

So now i no how to find the correct kernal - but how on earth am i going to get the os booted again!

wot reinstall the whole os.......but then i have to update to 10.4.8 and find all the drivers and kext and whatnot allll over again.

Way to much hastle I have had to do so much work on the installation to get it running nicely as wel... Is there no way to revert back to a previous kernal?
