i tried it on my intel 946gz and also on intel 965... both of them give the same error and there are no options to play around with the acpi support in the bios either...

now i have a gigabyte 945S, and the 10.4.9 uphuck installed with no hassels except the liltle pata one... but the thing is none of those intel boards could support this version... i dont knw why

I have the same problem. I have Intel mbo: DG965RY and install allways stop at ACPI:System State [s0 S3 S4 S5] (S3). I read somewhere that the problem is between BIOS and Darwin, bicause Darvin read only first 16 devices, and BIOS give devices from 1-255. Is it posible do change Darvin boot loader so it can read all devices in BIOS???

Guys,

I've found a solution!

I had the same 'ACPI' error and managed to install Jas 10.48 SSE2 SSE3 without a hitch on my PATA with Asus VP5V900 aka P5VD2-VM.

The problem was using a Beta V2 of the Jas install and a few settings in BIOS. Once I changed the BIOS, used the proper Jas 10.4.8 and reformatted the drive for installation, everything went smoothly.

First, before installation you must make sure you have the following settings in BIOS:

PATA IDE: Set to master on Primary IDE, all settings to Auto

CDROM IDE: Set to master on Secondary IDE, all settings to Auto

HDD Smart monitoring: on

CPU Config: all enabled, especially Limit CPUID Maxval

Chipset primary display: mine was PCI-E

PCI Pnp > Plug & Play OS: Yes

Resources controlled by: Auto

Assign IRQ for VGA: Disabled

Maximum payload size: 4096

Onboard IDE:

Sata controller: Enabled

Sata Controller mode: IDE

HDA controller: Auto

Onboard Lan device: Enabled

Onboard Lan rom: Disabled

Serial port1 address: 3F8/IRQ4

Parallel port address 3F8/IRQ7

Parallel port mode: Bi-directional

ECP Mode Use DMA: 3

USB: all enabled including legacy support

Power > ACPI Suspend type: S1 (POS)

ACPI ACIP support: Enabled (mine was fixed)

APM Configuration: all off including HPET support

Hardware monitor: enabled

Boot > Boot settings configuration >

OS select for DRAM > 64MB: OS2

With the above settings I just loaded up Jas 10.4.8 and got the thing installed on my PATA drive. I believe disabling the VGA IRQ and setting the CPUID Maxval limit helped. Remember it must be clean install for this to work after setting BIOS - previous ones don't work. Let us know how it goes. But now I'm following this guide > http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=47859

to get my OSX onto the SATA drive

Final note, I also noticed on my installation after the correct BIOS setup that the darwin text screen showed two VIA UNKNOWNS and when the ACPI problem occurred, it was only 1 VIA UNKNOWN showing.

It's not a DVD error; I've tried installing it on my system with multiple Jas/Uphuck versions from 10.4.8 to 10.4.9.

The error is always the same; the boot screen just stops at:

ACPI:System State [s0 S3 S4 S5] (S3)

Even with -x, -v, -s, platform=whatever, cpus=1...they don't help.

Does anyone have any useful suggestions?

try resetting ur BIOS settings.. do you overclock a lot ?? check master slave etc etc.. the usual.. of course it can be a disc burn issue also.. try even defragmenting ur harddrive. trust me it does make a difference.

Some news.. i've tried some options... seems that there are some issues with the "mmconfig" pci architectures.

Is possible to disable the mmconf in the mach kernel? With BSD and linux kernel, this is possible with pci=nommconf in the boot options.

I've tried with mac, but there are the same problems.

Thanks.

Stefano.
