Gmanater
I have been trying to install OS X on my Intel desktop for awhile now, but I have been unsuccessful with both 10.4.8 and 10.4.6. Since my 10.4.8 disc seems to be corrupted, I installed OS X using the 10.4.6 disc. After installation and finishing, the proccess locks up after I press the restart button (Also if i just let it wait 15s). After many hours of waiting, I restarted manually, set the partition to active, and recieved the following error: HFS+ Partition error I have completed this same process many times with both versions, so does anyone know what I can be doing wrong? I am dual booting with Vista. Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41062-hfs-partition-error/ Share on other sites
Gmanater
I was viewing other threads and saw this one: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=6890 It says to change the ID of the partition with Hiren's boot CD. I already had version 8.6, but when I select an application, it gets stuck on "loading CD-Rom driver." So I downloaded version 8.7, and it also freezes. Anyone know another way I can change the partition ID to AF? Gmanater
Since I was following the install guides, I tried to do that each time I installed OS X. Each time when I entered "p" and pressed enter, the terminal said it was a bad command. I ended up just creating another partition on my 2nd HD and installing it on there. It boots, but will only get passed the "kernel" line if I use -x in startup options. Now all I have to do is find ethernet drivers for my Abit AW8 MOBO. Thanks though Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41062-hfs-partition-error/#findComment-295670 Share on other sites
tuxuser33
"p" is optional, that prints a list of partition infos to the screen if really you know, which partition has to be flaged you can leave this step. if you are not sure so look before... on the other hand, why not give GPARTED a try. its like a Swiss Knife Edited February 8, 2007 by tuxuser33 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41062-hfs-partition-error/#findComment-296817 Share on other sites
aznracer
When you formatted your partition did you set it as primary or logical? Most likely it was probably set as logical, you have to set it primary when format in order for the OS to boot.
