Anyone ever find a fix for the "no smoking" symbol problem? For what its worth, I had OSX working for one boot, then I restarted and it came up...this is when I do not install the extra drivers under the Customize option when installing (only the nvidia/intel packages selected). When I DO install those extra drivers/packages, I immediately get the "no smoking" symbol when booting up. Any thoughts? It is my understanding that some people get the error no matter what options they select as long as they have the intel package selected.

my specs:

jas osx 10.4.8

intel e6600 oc'ed to 3.2

1gig ocz memory

gigbyte piece of junk motherboard

onboard sound disabled

nvidia 7900gs

turtle beach aa amigo (usb sound)

I don't have a solution as I'm new to this game and I spend little time on it for the moment but I have noticed something odd that may mean something to someone.

My installation of Jas 10.4.8 worked fine from the start with the intel mods except that I had no sound, no sata and no internet. Even the chain0 link worked and I've seen that is not the case for everyone.

What is odd is that when I booted windows afterwards the time was changed to one hour earlier so I corrected it. Afterwards I only get the no entry sign on trying to boot Mac os. I don't know if the two are related because I haven't yet retried the install.

I have seen fixes for some of the problems I have mentioned but I haven't yet seen how to install the drivers so I'll continue looking. If anyone has a remedy for the no entry I'll be interested and I'll keep you posted when I have time to experiment.

My rig for info:

Asrock dual775vsta + E6300 core2duo

realtek on board sound

seagate sata drive

gigaset usb adapter 11 wifi connection

Hello,

I tried adding the -v to the options via F8 at startup. I did not happen to see any message, it just goes straight into the apple white screen where it loads, and then it displays the kernel panic error after some time as normal. It seems like when I add the -v nothing different shows. Thanks for the reply, I really want this to work

Without telling us what chipset your mobo is using it's very difficult to help. You should only install extra packages IF you need them to run; otherwise they will likely stuff up your installation. When os X installs on official HW all the kexts are included so you can use move your install to any mac, however our mutant babies often require a unique atmosphere to breathe :police:

Just to follow through on all of this...thanks to the -v -x suggestion I discovered the system was hanging on the infamous "Waitin on root device...etc" message, I just was not seeing it. This is because I had installed on an external usb enclosure and then had taken the drive out and tried to use it as a regular SATA drive. While this works for a boot or two if lucky, it seems to end up failing in the end. If anyone was curious this is on a gigabyte 945p s3 motherboard. Also, if you have this motherboard or the same realtek lan ethernet chipset it works fine using the drivers you can find on these forums by searching for the chipset type. Thanks all.

HAS ANYBODY FIXED THIS ISSUE?

I MANAGED TO INSTALL AND SUCCESFULLY RUN OSX 10.4.7 USING VMWARE 5 IN WINDOWS XP

BUT IF I REBOOT THE SYSTEM AND BOOT INTO OSX IT STOPS ON THE APPLE SCREEN AND A "NO ENTRY" SIGN APPEARS AND HANGS. OSX INSTALLED ON A SATA DRIVE (SECONDARY) AND WINDOWS XP ON THE IDE DRIVE (PRIMARY)

SO I REBOOT BACK INTO WINDOWS --INTO VMWARE AND I CAN RUN OSX JUST FINE?

Chantix is one of those medicines which help in getting over smoking habit, but this medicine has some side effects as well. Person using chantix mainly encounter sleeplessness, change of taste and headache but these side effects diminish with time. So people should consult there physician before going for this medicine. It works on the body by giving you the same feel good effect and hence reduces the craving for nicotine. Along with having chantix, one should have the will power to get over this habit. Best luck to all those who want to give up smoking.
