Kernel panic with 10.4.8 install on AMD

I would appreciate it if anyone could point me in any directions to further troubleshoot my issue.

 

I am installing the JaS 10.4.8 with Semthex 8.8.1 on hardware:

-- AMD X2 (AM2) 3800

-- ABit Mobo with NForce 4 Ultra chipset.

-- eVGA 256-P2-N381-TX GeForce 6800XT 256MB DDR PCI Express x16 Video Card

-- PATA HDD

 

I go through the installation, installing the core OSX components plus the Semthex AMD. I've also installed both with and without the NV40 kext.

 

The installation completes and prompts me to restart to complete installation. After the reboot I get the lovely gray screen and the circular dashes animating below the Apple logo.

 

After a few seconds I get the "You need to restart your computer" screen.

 

What I've tried:

-- I have tried starting up with "-v" and console doesn't appear to end on any errors.

-- I have booted back to the DVD -> Console and copy the mach_kernel from the DVD to the installed volume

-- I have checked the /Library/Logs directory for some information. Couldn't find any.

 

From the Wiki it appears that my CPU and chipset should be compatible.

 

Any ideas on what may be causing the error, or how I can better troubleshoot?
