Try unplugging master HD. Set the target HD as master and try again.. you should be able to install using the DVD. Allthough I'm not certain of which method you're using so I cannot tell you if it will have the desired result.. it will probably result in being able to install OSX.

Did you try to install osx 10.4.8 sse2/sse3 amd intel on a standalone hdd ? if yes ... it is a bug on the install dvd .... do not bother .....

the only solution is to use a different dvd for creating the partition .... reboot

and after that use the latest dvd
