blueman2
I wanted to move my working 10.4.8 to another partition on another drive. Currently I have XP on my main drive, and boot to OSX on a second drive using BootMagic. I wanted to move OSX over to my main drive without a reinstall. Can I just dd the partition somehow? Or is there a tool to copy this? FOr some reason, Parition Magic says my MacOS drive is invalid, so I cannot use it's partition copy tool. kuja
Yes, it's possible to do so. There is a tool specifically meant to do this. It's called Clonetool and can be found at http://art5dog.com/Clonetool/CT.html Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37976-how-can-i-copy-my-maxos-partition-to-another-drive/#findComment-270865 Share on other sites

Just be sure to make sure you have a Master Boot Record (MBR) as known as "FDisk_Partition_Scheme" and formatted to HFS+ on the target drive prior to cloning. Everything else is pretty straight forward. gt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37976-how-can-i-copy-my-maxos-partition-to-another-drive/#findComment-270868 Share on other sites
gotoh
using OS X Disk Utility also works fine, provided you set your partition as active...
