Hi Eggie,

 

Yes this board seems to work a treat, with a core 2 duo it trounces my 2.0 Gig G5!

 

For installation, most of the recomendations given by theguy in his dq3/4 walkthrough which can be found by going to the Wiki and looking under Gigabyte motherboard section in 10.4.8 components the following the link to the walkthrough, will apply to you also.

 

The one thing you really have to do is connect your DVD drive to the sata bus using a IDE/Sata convertor. You will not be able to use IDE at this stage, it simply won't work.

 

Go into your bios and activate both Sata controllers to AHCI. Put your DVD drive on the top orange sata controller and your HDD on the same orange controller but directly below the DVD drive. This will let the computer boot from the DVD drive after you have selected the actual drive in the bios. It is no good just saying boot from CD, you need to select your actual drive, in my case it was Pioneer DVR 111D that actually showed up by scrolling the drop down box of the first boot device.

 

I used Jas 10.4.8 reseed with Semthex.

 

When you get to the bit of installation where you can select your drive to install to, you will probably have to format it first by going to the menu bar, drop down menu at the top of your screen & activating Disk Utility. Format your drive then it should show up as an option to install to.

Move to the next screen having selected your drive then hit the options button.

 

Open the drop down child sub menu next to JAS and check boxes for:

 

Jas with Semthex

 

Via/Sata Fix

 

Azalia Audio

 

Log in screen fix

 

Have a look to see if any others are relevent, my memory is going a bit here.

 

After the installation you are going to have to fix a few other things to, sound will be scratcy or not working but this can be fixed with Pions package along with Sys Profiler fix (This needs to be installed twice - don't ask me why)
