The ATI X300 card works in macos with QE/CI an OPENGL. Now i want to know if this driver also work for this laptop....

I finally manage to install it using vmware, but when trying to boot in native mode it just says "waiting for root device" while in vmware works flawlessly, i wonder if there is any kext for this or what other solutions can i use..... thanks.... trying to find something in the forum

i tried following the guide several times but natively i get "still waiting for root device"

any ideas?

Yeah... that Emzo's solution isn't a solution for our PCs. I followed the guide using his solution several times and still got "still waiting for root device". This is most probably because the hard drive hardware ID for emzo's solution is for a aspire 5051 and the hard drive hardware ID for our 1501s is different... just my $.02. Don't know how to change it, but wish I could...

You can install on an external, bootable hard drive though... just not the internal Sata at this point in time....

Well, offcourse the link to the kext is with the acer ID's. You have to edit it or:

----------

Here is how to:

1. Install any compatible version in VmWare - tried uphuck 10.4.9 and tubgirl 10.4.10

2. Download this kext - http://rapidshare.com/files/49196350/SATA.zip.html - modified ven id for Inspiron 1501

3. Boot os x in VmWare and:

- delete AppleVIAATA.kext

- install the kext from the link above

- repair permissions

4. boot os x native with -f parameter (when os x loads press F8 for boot options type -f and hit enter)

And .... it works.

Turion x2 TL-50, 1 gig ram, 120gb samsung HDD.Using latest bios.HPET enabled in bios.Don't know if it does matter.

AMD Sempron 3500+ (32bit), 1 gig ram, ***HDD is a 60GB Toshiba MK6034GSX SATA Drive***, Using lates bios.

Do you think if I edited the kext for my model HDD it would work??

If so, how would I find the vendor ID and how would I edit the kext??

Ooops sorry guys.In the kext in my previous link there was no inspirons 1501 dev id's added.

But you should check that :P

Anyway, here is the correct kext:

http://rapidshare.com/files/49615374/IOATA...y.kext.zip.html

Delete your current IOATAFamily.kext and install this one.Repair permissions and boot with -f parameter !

Sorry again, this one works for sure ;)

cool it boots native

but i got a few issues

audio work afer patching with the applehda patcher but speaker will always work even with headphone in any way to change that? also microphone doesnt work

when i close the lid the display stays on and it wont sleep

and the displays maximum is on 1024x768 not the 1280 whatever it should be

other than that so far i cant see any other issues

Wireless working out-of-box

Widescreen (1280x800) resolution w/ Callisto b003 (b008 will not work)

Sound working w/ AppleHDA Patcher using Sigmatel9200.txt codec dump

Anyone know why my battery meter is always showing my laptop is running from battery (even when charging) and the batter icon is always showing empty? I used the powermanagement bundle during install...

Thanks for all your help EmzO
