kannasama
No. It does not have drivers for our SATA controller. There is an alternate option of installing to an external USB drive, however. aross6
i tried following the guide several times but natively i get "still waiting for root device"any ideas? Yeah... that Emzo's solution isn't a solution for our PCs. I followed the guide using his solution several times and still got "still waiting for root device". This is most probably because the hard drive hardware ID for emzo's solution is for a aspire 5051 and the hard drive hardware ID for our 1501s is different... just my $.02. Don't know how to change it, but wish I could... You can install on an external, bootable hard drive though... just not the internal Sata at this point in time.... emzo
Well, offcourse the link to the kext is with the acer ID's. You have to edit it or: ---------- Here is how to: 1. Install any compatible version in VmWare - tried uphuck 10.4.9 and tubgirl 10.4.10 2. Download this kext - http://rapidshare.com/files/49196350/SATA.zip.html - modified ven id for Inspiron 1501 3. Boot os x in VmWare and: - delete AppleVIAATA.kext - install the kext from the link above - repair permissions 4. boot os x native with -f parameter (when os x loads press F8 for boot options type -f and hit enter) And .... it works.
