arsix
Hi, I was trying to install 10.4.8 JaS DVD to my Compaq Laptop V3016US. (1.6 GHz Intel Core Duo T2050 dual-core processor, 80 GB hard drive, 512 MB of RAM, LightScribe multi-format/dual-layer DVD/CD burner). but right after I get the gray apple logo the screen went blue, so I tried the external monitor trick, and now instead of having a blue screen, I'm getting a black one, even on the external display. I'm also trying to send signal to the external monitor by pressing Fn+F4 (which is the keyboard shortcut), and im still at the black screen. Please help me, Im stuck and dont know what else to try... Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37444-compaq-v3016us/ Share on other sites
arsix
well, after much reading I finally figure out what the problem was. The trick to do this is to have the external monitor connected all the time during booting, disconnect the monitor when you hear the DVD stop spinning, and connect it again, then the external monitor that was previously showing a a black screen will show u the installation screen. Hope this helps anyone who runs into this problem. took me a while to figure out what was going on.
