mavster0410
Intel P4 3Ghz Northwood Intel 865GLC 120GB hd 1GB PC4000 ram Ti4200 Ok, I partitioned the harddrive using partitionmagic...rebooted and installed OSx perfectly... Now this is where the fun starts, I can't get it to boot... Using Acronis Disk Suite I made the partition, primary and active... Now when I select the "unknown OS" to boot, it loads Darwin X86...I select the "disk05" option...indicated OSx boot.. Then it starts loading files...the screen goes completely dark...then a lit black screen... Thats when the computer restarts... I booted the OSx DVD again, and using the disk utility I converted the parition to journalized... Now It just continues that loop of loading files and restarted... Can someone shed some light on this... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36635-dual-booting-problem-first-time-install-issues/ Share on other sites

Rammjet
What packages did you choose in the Customize window when you installed? Also, OSX hates to be on a partition after a logical/extended partition. The "disk05" implies to me that OSX may be on the 5th partition. Since the only way to get 5 partitions is with logical/extended partitions, that means there must be at least two logical/extended partitions in front of OSX. Rammjet
The intel patches are the important ones. Click the little arrow beside them to reveal the packages.
