Crucial P5 Plus CT1000P5PSSD8 1TB Solid State SSD (PCIe 4.0, 3D NAND, NVMe, M.2) gives slower speed than Technical Document.

 

I use the aforementioned SSD in my system with my signature. On shopping sites and some technical publications, it is written that the sequential read speed can be up to 6600 mb/s and the sequential write speed can be up to 5500mb/s. However, in the tests I do, I get the speeds as a maximum of 3500mb/s and 3200 mb/s.

 

 

My motherboard GIGABYTE Z490 GAMING X supports pci-e 3.0 on this board. I couldn't understand why I got such a low speed. I need your opinions on this. Thank You!

@HyperX7 I think your motherboard has M.2 with PCIe Gen3 X4.  Have you checked the max speed for that interface?  It may be that the speeds you are seeing are limited by your motherboard and not the SSD.

 

EDIT: This indicates max Gen3 X4 speed is 3500 MB/s which seems to be consistent with the speeds that you are seeing.

A PCIe 4.0 device can only work at up PCIe 3.0 speed when it is connected to PCIe slot that only supports up to PCIe 3.0 speed.

 

PCIe 3.0 x4 = 8.1 GT/s/lane * 4 lanes * 128b/130T * 1 B/8b * 1000 MB/GB = 3988 MB/s.

That is with zero overhead which is impossible. 3500 MB/s is almost 88% of that which is about as much as you can expect.
