Thanks to the help of Rammjet I was able to get OS X installed and booting properly on my computer. However my Microsoft USB Wireless Comfort keyboard does not work when I run the OS X install. I've tried other PS/2 devices and they don't work either. Could someone please help me with this issue.

Hopefully some of the experts here can help me as well. I am running the install of 10.4.6, and every time I run it, OS X86 doesn't recognize my usb keyboard or mouse at all. I've tried changing ports, leaving the mouse unplugged, etc. to no avail. I also can't go the PS/2 route, because for some reason my motherboard won't recognize anything plugged in there, during post and after.

Can anyone offer any suggestions, tips or tricks? Here's the hardware I'm using:

ECS P4M800PRO-M motherboard

Pentium D 930 3.00 Ghz

Nvidia GeForce FX5500

2 GB RAM

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Chief, I have found the solution after about an hour of searching!

What you need to do is get a PS/2 mouse and keyboard.

Then disable all USB functionality in your BIOS.

Then reinstall Mac OS X.

That should solve your problem. Apparently OS X doesn't want to load the USB driver if the BIOS is able to do it so disabling it tends to fix the issue.

Obviously you can reenable it after the install.

Frenchie,

I would do that, but my motherboard doesn't seem to like when I hook up via PS/2. This isn't limited to OS X, it happens all the time. Most likely my ports are no good. And I had thought of disabling legacy USB support, but when I do that, it turns it off altogether. So, when Darwin comes up, I can't select to boot the OS. I can't do anything.

I could be SOL, but I was hoping that someone might have a workaround. Or would a newer version than 10.4.6 solve this problem on its own?

Thanks
