Gigabyte TB5

Anyone know how to get the TB5 working on the Gigabyte Z890 AI TOP? I did the port mapping in macOS Sequoia/Tahoe and tried Ventura but any thunderbolt devices connected to the rear TB5 ports only show has HS devices. In Windows 11, doing the Port mapping there, it shows as SS device but that kext when taken to mac, does not work. The below is the kext created on windows as a test bench and the text document is from Discover ports in Win 11. If you look to the bottom of the text document, you will see ports 31 and 32 which picks up the TB drive, at the top of that document - Port 2 is the TB4 which is on the motherboard itself, this works and shows up in Mac but is built-into the motherboard so hard to use. I also include the results folder i got using SSDTTime in Windows. I have marked the TB4 port which is a USB C fixed on the motherboard and that works when mapping in map but i really want to get the TB5 working. I even went to ChatGPT last night because of pulling my hair out and below is what i got for GPT

@Surenmunoo for desktop you need patch with HackinDrom ( https://hackindrom.zapto.org )

 

Need search another forum that I can't mention here, many guys can do it works for desktop. 

 

I think you can't mapping this ports, and need understand that maybe will necessary patchers for your ports like SS01, renamed to SSP1.

 

I put on my config.plist some patches to avoid kernel panic on my Lenovo T14, that not recognize without mapping kexts. Need Energizer kexts SSDTs, etc.

 

Its necessary change your device properties to D where is C letters like this:

 

 

 

And need great lucky to compile your XHCI without mapping ports. Because Thunderbolt is not simple ports.

Thanks Mate. Hackindrom is quite outdated and has not been kept unto date with newer MB past Z690. Do you think it will work? How do you recommend I go about it

Yes, will work fine, my Lenovo works like a charm and using parameters of HacinDrom  maybe you can do some research on GitHub with your MOBO model, im sure you get nice SSDTS...related

See the TB5 80/120, that is what I am trying to get to work. The SS01 is the TB4 that is built into the front of the motherboard and that works but I need to rear to work. At least in USB 3 mode for my iPhone.

You have to customize the SSDT. There are a couple of forums where you can find the instructions  or ask for help (CaseSJ).

Need to add some patches to try is will works, initially need block your Thunderbolt. After "run" you can try disable patches, it's important. 

 

 

 

 

Im use some SSDTs build one by one and its no easy to have patient for works Thunderbolt native.

Always you most try and search for your ports on HT RP09, RP13, RP05? Need find and replace with MaciAsL  

 

 

For exemple RP13 and D on Pci(ox1D) .... need change your THB ports too for D on device plist

Sure my friend, extract your DSDT and ACPI Tables without generic patches, if is possible, use Windows.  

Just for clarify, this patches you can extract from Hackintool. Pcie, and put on device properties. I refere about SSDT patches for your Thunderbolt. 

This patch SSDTs you need investigate how is for your ports, check in Hackintool, and edit your SSDT file search and prepared for your MOBO or Thunderbolt model.

Hey Max, Here is the results folder from SSDTTime extracted in windows which contains the DSDT as well. Also attached is my EFI that I use excluding the kexts and resource folder to make it smaller. Thanks for your help mate

I did try adding the patches from Hackintool>PCIE to Device Properties for TB Barlow Ridge but it did not help

Hi my friend, just a question, why you have similar values on different devices? Maybe you need take a print of Hackintool with original names and values for me analyze your hardware. 

 

And I will check your ACPI tables

This EFI is from Mald0n so I have not changed anything in the Device properties, just tried adding some stuff for TB

Mine is blank there, system froze when taking screenshot, will reboot and come back

Ok, and this occurs in Sequoia too? If yes, are you using same EFI for both systems ? Your Hackintosh in another occasion show up this Thunderbolt port like genuine Thunderbolt? In Thunderbolt Menu ? Take a picture If is possible. No need exactly print screen.

@surenmunoo In this case, I would really like to have the knowledge to at least be able to immediately identify which ports are yours. I saw that you have two, but in your uncompiled DSDT there are more than 20 PXSX ports, so only a specialist could remotely follow the reading of each port and check item by item to activate your Thunderbolt — which is by no means easy. So, if it's not natively recognized (and it most likely won't be) without Hot-Plugs or Hot-Patches, I don't have that level of expertise. I do know someone who could help you, but even so, before I refer you to them, I’d need to confirm whether that person is available to support you — and they would most likely suggest a more robust and optimized system like Sequoia.

@surenmunoo to be able to see something here, you must activate the local node. For TB4, in some cases you would need to flash the TB firmware to load the local node and unlock more advanced functionality besides hot unplug. CaseySJ has been very active helping others to do it in other forums we cannot mention here. CaseySJ also found that for some mobo's you don't even need to flash the firmware to enable the local node, as it can be done through SSDT fixes/patches. However, for TB5, I'm not that aware if the local node can be enabled in the same way as TB4. CaseySJ may be able to help you with TB5.

Thanks, I posted there as well hoping you chimes in and offers something. I am playing around with his SSDT, I might break something but might also try and fix until someone can offer a resolution to get this working.

@Max.1974 @jlrycm I seem to have it going the way I want. It now picks up the iPhone of each of the TB5 ports. USB 4 Host Router had to be set to Auto instead of Standard.

I also had edited this SSDT - SSDT-THB5-RP01.aml Wherever this had RP09, I changed that out to RP01. I tried without this enabled and I lose TB5, I enable it again and it starts working.

And if you can limited to 15 ports will be better
